ESTIMATED TRAINING GUIDE(for a current list of prices please see our DOWNLOADS SECTION for a copy of our prices):
PRIVATE: We encourage our primary-training students to begin with a demonstration flight to get them acquainted with the world of aviation as well as with the instructor. Training for the Private Pilot License consists of flight and ground instruction, including a minimum 40 hours of flight time logged towards the certificate. The average amount of flight time spent to sufficiently prepare for the check ride is 60 hours. Ground instruction to prepare for the FAA knowledge test can be taken concurrently with flight instruction either in the classroom or via a home-study course. To qualify for the Private Pilot License, you must be at least 17 years of age and you will need to pass a simple physical exam given by an FAA-approved physician. Your instructor will go over the syllabus with you and work out a time line for your training. It is strongly recommended that you maintain a steady schedule of two-hour block lessons, as frequently spaced as possible. This way, you will retain more information between lessons, which can cut the cost and duration of your training down considerably. Estimated Private Pilot Cost: 65 hours in a Cessna 172 at $123.00.........$7,995 40 hours flight instruction at $65...............$2,600 20 hours ground instruction at $65.............$1,300 Written test.............................................$100 Flight test................................................$500 TOTAL $12,495.00 THE INSTRUMENT RATING: An instrument rating is essential for the private pilot who wants to continue into the more advanced stages of flying and who wishes to be able to fly in less than VFR weather. It also provides the pilot an unequivocal safety margin, since many VFR pilots have flown into deteriorating weather without the training to get themselves safely out. The training for this challenging rating requires at least 40 hours of instrument time, including 15 hours of instrument flight instruction, and written, oral and flight exams. At Justice Aviation, we utilize the highly realistic Frasca 142-model flight simulator for part of the instruction and all of our aircraft are equipped for instrument flight. Estimated Instrument Rating Cost: 45 hours of instruction.............................$2,925 15 hours simulator..................................$1,350 30 hours Cessna 172..............................$3,690 20 hours of ground instruction..................$1,300 Written test............................................$100 Flight test...............................................$500 TOTAL $9,865.00
MULTI-ENGINE RATING: Flying faster, more complicated airplanes calls for professional techniques and procedures. For most pilots, this rating serves as the introduction to the world of advanced systems and aerodynamics. The typical training involves fifteen hours of flight time and fifteen hours of ground instruction, some of which is done in the Frasca 142 simulator. We have several multiengine instuctors, and one twin-engine airplane available: the Beechcraft Duchess (BE-76; 360 total horsepower; 185 mph cruise).
Estimated Multi-Engine Rating Cost: 15 hours flight instruction....................$900 15 hours BE-76..................................$3,750 10 hours ground instruction.................$600 Flight test (examiner fee)...................$500 TOTAL $5,750 FLIGHT EXAMS (CHECKRIDES) Our owner here at Justice Aviation, Joe Justice is an FAA Examiner & can provide all exams for all your for Private, Instrument, and Commercial Students.
